Squirrel Monkeys Stun Marlins, 4-1
|
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys faced a tough opponent in Ft. Myers pitcher John Palmer, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Zoo in Syracuse by a final score of 4-1. Palmer went 8 innings and allowed no runs. Young-kwang Chong, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits. The win puts Syracuse at 37-18 this season.
Pablo Hernández was the walk-off hero for Syracuse. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Squirrel Monkeys right fielder hit a dramatic 3-run home run to send the teams home.
"This place sure got loud," said Scott Garrison, the Syracuse manager.
