Monsters Take Down Humpbacks, 5-4
|
Pavlushenka Galanov had a good game, but he could not keep the Alaskan Humpbacks from falling, 5-4, to the Monongahela Monsters at Sea World. The Alaskan designated hitter hit 2 home runs in the loss. Manuel Peña picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 1-2. With the win, Monongahela elevates its record to 7-8.
Freddie Cupp had a critical at-bat with two out in the top of the eighth. The Monongahela first baseman came through with a 2-run single to put Monongahela in front, 5-2.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Cupp told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
