Syracuse took on Salt Lake City in front of a lively crowd.
Salt Lake City got a valiant performance from pitcher Arthur Corrigan, but it wasn't enough to beat the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys. Syracuse won the game, 5-2. Corrigan threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Hunter Kirkland earned the win for Syracuse. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 5-1.
Syracuse used the bat of Jesús Tavárez to capture the win. The shortstop jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
Tavárez told a Syracuse Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Today's win puts Syracuse at 31-18, while Salt Lake City falls to 25-24.
