The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys picked up a win at Monster Field, knocking off the Vermont Lake Monsters, 7-1. Starting pitcher Ronald Love was a big reason why. The Lake Monsters have now dropped 5 straight.

Syracuse used a well-timed hit by Martín Pliego to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Love.
