Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Monongahela Monsters and Calgary Lynx.

In a low-scoring contest, Monongahela pitcher Bhu Pahayahay was marvelous in his team's 3-1 win. Jack Herer earned the save, his 2nd.

Monongahela relied on the hitting of José Mercado to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Monsters on top, 3-0. For the game, Mercado had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Monongahela manager Sancho Tornero. "It's usually not just one thing."

Calgary is 4-3 after the defeat.
