Buzz Take Down Disaster, 8-7
|
The Port Royal Disaster and Salt Lake City Buzz provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Salt Lake City Buzz weathered a fine game by Port Royal right fielder Eric Bowman to upend the Disaster, 8-7, at Ballpark of Port Royal. Bowman went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Salt Lake City reliever Pepe Montoya picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. José Pérez absorbed the loss.
Salt Lake City used a timely hit from Nherbert Imperial to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Buzz ahead, 8-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"I like our moxie," said Buzz manager Jay Smith.
The Buzz, now 8-2, have stormed out of the gates.
