Lake Monsters Squelch Men Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters went home winners at Monster Field, thanks in large part to starter Tsurayaki Tanaka. Tanaka stifled the Florida Men, enabling Vermont to grab the 5-0 win. In 6 innings, Tanaka surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 5. He allowed no runs. Jami Jokinen, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
In the bottom of the fifth, Shintaro Hagi delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Vermont right fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Lake Monsters in front, 5-0.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Hagi.
The loss drops the Men to 0-4.
