The Florida Men and Jersey City Tritons were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Jersey City Tritons beat the Florida Men, 12-2, at Jersey City Grounds. The win was due in part to designated hitter Bill Jackson, who was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Nate Vanscoy recorded the save, his 1st.

The Men had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Tritons going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old left fielder Ed Ward came to the plate. Ward hit a 2-run double on a full count fastball from Florida hurler Pedro Negrón. It was Ward's 2nd double of the year.

Said losing manager : "Give the Tritons credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."

The Tritons, now 3-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.
