Buckhead and Charleston duked it out and the Bowties came out victorious.

The Buckhead Bowties beat the Charleston Battery, 7-4, at 5 Paces Park. Román Merced, in particular, was impressive. He went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The loss drops Charleston to 4-3.

Merced contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Buckhead in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-2, Merced took a fastball from Luis Gutiérrez and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Bowties to leap in front, 4-3.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Merced. "Just do my job."
