Rainbow Mermaids Hope Opening Day Win Bodes Well for Season
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids ushered in the 2054 season with a win versus the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC at Atlantica. The final score was 2-1. Starting Pitcher Marty Taylor had a standout performance.

In the bottom of the sixth, Northern Virginia right fielder Gustavo Gonzáles gave his team the lead. With one out and a runner on 1st, Barbwire hit his 1st home run of the year. Thunder Bay pitcher Hakizimana Kipkorir surrendered it. With that, the Rainbow Mermaids jumped in front, 2-1.

"It's a mindset," said Taylor. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
