3A-'s Premier Player: Gómez of Bompton
Saturday, September 27th , 2053
At the age of 21, António Gómez of the Bompton Baby Lakers could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2053 was good enough to win the first baseman the M3L Low A Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .283 batting average this year, as well as a .393 on-base percentage. He played 95 games and racked up 94 hits, 12 doubles, no triples, 30 home runs, 72 RBIs and 65 runs scored.
He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 12. Mark Hall of the Bompton Baby Lakers finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Kenneth Alexander of the Greenport Harbor Whales finished third.
