Tuesday, September 23rd , 2053
At the age of 21, Gerben Groothuijzen says he still has a lot to learn about life in M3L Low A.
But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Greenport Harbor Whales reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2053 M3L Low A Reliever of the Year Award.
"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Princess Quarter, Sint Maarten native said.
For the season, Groothuijzen had 2 saves in 28 relief appearances, which totaled 59. He fanned 59 betters, while walking 23 and put up a record of 3-1 to go with his 1.53 ERA.
He received 11 first place votes out of a possible 12. Sam van Elswijk of the Napanee Express finished second in voting, while Jeffrey Young of the Moose Jaw Canucks finished third.
