After defeating the Quebec City Baby Blues, 3-0, he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments. "I'm just glad to be here," Newman said. "Today I just went right at the Baby Blues as hard as I could, as long as I could." Newman chalked up 10 strikeouts and allowed 2 walks in his superb performance. "I don't think they could have stopped him with a howitzer today," said Maine manager Charles Wells.
