Baby Blues Held Hitless by Newman
Saturday, September 6th , 2053
Excitement reigned at Dylan Park today as Maine Sea Dogs hurler Barry Newman tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter.
After defeating the Quebec City Baby Blues, 3-0, he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments.
"I'm just glad to be here," Newman said. "Today I just went right at the Baby Blues as hard as I could, as long as I could."
Newman chalked up 10 strikeouts and allowed 2 walks in his superb performance.
"I don't think they could have stopped him with a howitzer today," said Maine manager Charles Wells.
This season in 19 starts Barry Newman has a record of 8-5 with 137 strikeouts in 116.1 innings and a 2.63 ERA.
