Bang-up Game: Alejo Slams 3 Homers Sunday, August 31st , 2053 Athletic Club KC U-21 third baseman Aurelio Alejo slugged three home runs against the Crowley Cajuns at Titans Ballpark, but couldn't win the game all by himself. The Cajuns spoiled his day by defeating the U-21, 14-8. "The loss puts a damper on the outstanding game Aurelio had, but people will be buzzing about this for days to come," Athletic Club KC manager Wilson López. "That's gotta be some consolation to him. But knowing Aurelio, he would have preferred a win." For the game, Alejo was 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "The first two I got all of them and it was no doubt they were gone," Alejo said later. "It seemed like the wind helped it a little on that last one. I just wish Mother Nature had helped us win the game, too." Aurelio Alejo walked in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Brad Pate in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Carlos Allard in the 5th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Bertil Aerts in the 8th. This season Alejo is hitting at a .274 pace with 14 home runs, 27 RBIs and has scored 37 times. |
