Johnson Bashes 5 Base Hits
Tuesday, May 20th , 2053
Even as a kid, Jason Johnson said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Virginia Beach Grounds today, Johnson showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 23-year-old first baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Billings Polar Bears, helping his team knock off the Virginia Beach Whales by a score of 7-6.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."
Jason Johnson singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jim McKee in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and singled in the 9th.
This season Johnson is batting .333 with 20 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 11 times and has 9 RBI.
