Injury Sidelines Bruce Viera for Season
Tuesday, September 16th , 2053
The doctors have spoken and Bruce Viera of the Athletic Club KC Academy didn't like what he heard. The 25-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Viera sustained his season-ending injury during the Squirrel Hill Pierogis game yesterday at Field of the Rawhides. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Athletic Club KC Academy medical staff reported Viera had a torn back muscle and would be absent from the lineup for at least 4-5 months.
So far this season, in 16 relief appearances Viera has compiled an ERA of 0.96. He has pitched 28 innings, struck out 36, walked 1 and registered no saves.
