Silva Slams 3 Homers for Screaming Eagles
Sunday, July 27th , 2053
Mercer Island Screaming Eagles right fielder Gilberto Silva had a magnificent game against the Squirrel Hill Pierogis today, rocketing three balls out of Mercer Island Grounds to help the Screaming Eagles take the 14-0 victory.
"I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them," he said after the game. "The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves. All three were mistakes."
For the game, Silva went 5-for-5 with 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
"There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives," Mercer Island manager Ricardo Vargas said later. "Seems like Gilberto found his home run stroke today."
Gilberto Silva singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Balltesar Marmeleira in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Ramón Espinoza in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Ramón Espinoza in the 8th.
This year Silva is hitting .278 with 12 home runs and 47 RBIs in 66 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .357 with 25 walks and 36 runs scored.
