Best SAA Reliever Named Saturday, October 4th , 2053 Vic Byrd was a calming influence out of the Pine Island Dolphins bullpen this season. His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 23-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the USSL Double A Reliever of the Year Award for 2053. The Des Plaines, Illinois native won the award with 17 saves in 38 relief appearances, 54 strikeouts in 46.2 innings and a record of 7-2 to go with his 1.54 ERA. He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. José Salinas of the Olympia Ogres finished second in voting, while Juan López of the St. Petersburg Thunder finished third.
