Rich Baker Injured, Out for Season
Wednesday, August 20th , 2053
Long Island starting pitcher Rich Baker could miss the remainder of the season because of a torn rotator cuff. He exited yesterday's Vancouver game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Baker would be out 13-14 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
This year Baker has made 16 starts, thrown 101.2 innings, fanned 102 batters and walked 42. His won-lost record is 6-6 with a 3.81 ERA.
