Floundering Billy Goats Lose 7th Straight
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Vancouver Grey Wolves and the Colorado Billy Goats. Vancouver won it, 3-1. Vancouver starter Patrick Davis was in command. Michael Knight earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record is now 6-3. Picking up the save was Zach Brown, his 7th.
Vancouver used a clutch hit from Víctor Pagueros to get the win. The third baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Grey Wolves ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Pagueros said.
The first-place Grey Wolves, at 60-32, now lead their division by 9 games.
