Bernard Leads Cape Coral Past Long Island
|
Cape Coral Hurricanes pitcher Octávio Bernard was in fine form, leading his team past the Long Island Lighthouse, 4-0. Ricardo Ramírez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities. The loss makes Long Island 33-42.
Bernard, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 9 in 7 innings and gave up no runs.
Bernard moves to 5-5 on the year with 84 strikeouts.
"I just made my pitches," said Bernard, "and the ball kept missing the bat."
