Oaks Take Down Stingers, 5-3
|
The Oakland Oaks topped the Toledo Stingers by the score of 5-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to second baseman Ostoja Popovic. Popovic was 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Oaks on the day. Nick Snyder picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 9 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 9-3. Getting the save was Terry Lesage, his 17th.
Popovic made an early impact for Oakland when he stroked his 3rd triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which came in the bottom of the second, put the Oaks on top, 1-0.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Popovic told the Oakland Gazette.
The 'W' lifts Oakland's record to 42-33.
