MSL Boston Patriots starter Gérard Varin turned in a sterling performance against the MSL New Orleans Voodoo, leading his team to a slim 1-0 win. Varin, now 4-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing no runs. The second-place Patriots sport a record of 20-12.

The Patriots got an important contribution from third baseman Javier Martínez, who in the bottom of the fifth punched a 2-1 fastball into right-center for a solo home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Patriots ahead, 1-0.

"Winning is contagious," said Varin. "We're looking forward to the next game."
