Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Cattlemen
|
The Colorado Billy Goats got a superb performance from pitcher Dudley Malone, but the Ft. Worth Cattlemen still won the game, 3-2. Malone threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. With the win, Ft. Worth raised its record to 31-26.
Ft. Worth used the timely hitting of Nestor Soliman to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cattlemen on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Every loss hurts," said Colorado manager Mack Kilkeary. "But this was a tough one."
