Piranhas Top Patriots in Extras, 4-1

The MSL Boston Patriots got a sterling performance from pitcher Gérard Varin, but the MSL Panama City Piranhas still prevailed, 4-1. Varin threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball. The 7th-place Piranhas improved to 10-9.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Timmo Pelikaan came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing MSL Boston pitcher Pedro Ceide, he hit a 1-2 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting MSL Panama City on top, 2-1.
"We take it day by day here," said Pelikaan, "and today was a good one for us."
