Kingfishers Drop Dirty Reds, 4-3, with Late Score
MSL San Mateo wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Luis Cortéz, falling to the MSL Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 4-3. Cortéz threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Xian-yao Zhào snagged the win in relief. In 2.1 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 1-2 on the season. MSL Pittsburgh raised its record to 8-8 with the win.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Javier Reyes came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing MSL San Mateo pitcher Robun Fujihara, he hit a 1-0 splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting MSL Pittsburgh on top, 4-3.

Reyes called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
