Herrera belts 2 home runs, Leads U-18 to Win
|
The 6-3 MSL Athletic Club KC win over MSL Pittsburgh was due in large part to Claudio Herrera. The U-18 first baseman belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Ramiro García, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 1-2. Jesse Bell sewed up the save, his 3rd.
Had Gordon Lipinski not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Lipinski hit a 2-run double. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the U-18.
"Good to pick up this win," Lipinski said.
Their 8-7 record puts the U-18 5th in the PL MSL.
