Starting pitcher Tristan Liefting pitched well enough to help the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople beat the Flint Crush, 7-3. Liefting went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-1. The save went to Roberto Gonzáles, number 22 for him.
Clarence Hoffman had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Ellesmere Island. He came through with a 2-run single to put Ellesmere Island in front, 5-2.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Snowpeople manager Dale Sunter. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
The Snowpeople' win now puts them at 30-48.
