Bob Giles did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Long Island Lighthouse from losing, 5-4, to the Toledo Stingers at Pacesetter Park. Giles went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Toledo reliever Ken Wright picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Manuel Martínez was tagged with the loss. Jong-beom Park earned the save for Toledo, his 1st.
Heikki Lahtela had an important at-bat with one out in the bottom of the first, when he hit a 2-run double. His 12th double of the season put Toledo on top, 2-0.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Long Island manager Michael Esposito.
The Stingers now have a mark of 27-24.
