Loss to Express Extends Ellesmere Island Losing Streak

The 2053 season is getting uglier for Ellesmere Island.
The Napanee Express defeated the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 6-3, in M3L Low A action at The Igloo. Napanee pitcher Vicente Gutiérriz had a standout performance. In 6 innings, Gutiérriz surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs.
Napanee used the bat of Szeto Liu to capture the win. The right fielder jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Express ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Ellesmere Island manager Dale Sunter.
The slumping Snowpeople have lost 6 straight.
