Snowpeople Stick Baby Lakers with 2-1 Loss
|
Bompton got a terrific performance from pitcher Giustino Cotichini, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople. Ellesmere Island won the Field of the Browns contest, 2-1. Cotichini threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The save was credited to Roberto Gonzáles, his 15th. Ellesmere Island now owns a record of 21-32.
Ellesmere Island used the timely hitting of Clarence Hoffman to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Snowpeople on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Both teams played hard," said Ellesmere Island manager Dale Sunter.
