Late Rally by Shockers Locks Up 3-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Surprise Shockers and the Long Island Ducks, pitcher Aaron Ellicott was the difference between victory and defeat. The Surprise right-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Shockers win. Sagramor Airo, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. Al Leonard, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 13th save.
Surprise used the timely hitting of Juan Rodríguez to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Shockers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Aaron was throwing free and easy," said Surprise manager Júlio González.
Surprise, at 32-21, sits in third place in the Menard's Low A.
