Otters Come Up Short at Surprise, 2-1
|
The Surprise Shockers got a magnificent effort from pitcher Joe Adams, who kept Tulsa hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Shockers win at Shockers Field. Adams picked up the win for Surprise, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 4-2. The save went to Al Leonard, number 10 for him.
With runs few and far between, the Shockers had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Surprise came in the bottom of the second inning, when first baseman Gareth Holz delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Gilberto Espinoza and made the score 2-1, Shockers. Holz went 1 for 3.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Holz told the Surprise News.
Surprise now has a record of 27-20 with the win.
