Ducks Get Past Bompton for 4-3 Win
|
Bompton got a decent performance from pitcher Ken Leuthold, but it wasn't enough to beat the Long Island Ducks. Long Island won the Field of the Browns contest, 4-3. Leuthold threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The save was credited to Brandon Brown, his 1st. With the win, the Ducks have a record of 19-25.
Long Island used the timely hitting of Guillermo Castro to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ducks on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
After the game, Long Island manager Mike Simpson applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
