Fans watched the Long Island Ducks and the Bompton Baby Lakers fight to the finish.
Led by Elton Thorington, the Long Island Ducks downed the Bompton Baby Lakers, 5-4. Thorington went 2-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Ducks. Rafael Souza came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-1.
Long Island used the timely hitting of Gustavo Hernández to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ducks on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Hernández told the Long Island Gazette.
Long Island, at 18-25, sits in 9th place in the Menard's Low A.
