Surprise beat Ladue on the strength of starter Joe Adams's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Al Leonard earned the save for Surprise, his 6th. Surprise, now 21-18, holds down 6th place in the Menard's Low A.

Having an impact for Surprise was Gareth Holz. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the 19-year old first baseman had a run-scoring ground out to make the score 4-1, Shockers.

Holz told the Surprise News: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
