Oaks Take Nail-Biter Over Lighthouse
The Oakland Oaks took Long Island pitcher Manuel Martínez's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Oak Grove. The final score had Oakland getting past the Lighthouse, 4-3. Martínez went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 7. Carlos Ortega earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The Oaks improved to 25-21.

The Oaks procured the win, in large part because of center fielder Lorenzo García. In the bottom of the 13th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

"I still think this team can play even better," García told the Oakland Gazette.
