Cattlemen Get One-Run Win at Baltimore
|
The inspired effort of Baltimore right fielder Armando Merza was not enough to prevent a loss, 7-6, to the Ft. Worth Cattlemen. Merza was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Earning his 12th save of the year was Marc Potts. Ft. Worth now has a record of 25-21 with the win.
Had Amani Marwan not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Marwan hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Cattlemen.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Marwan, "but we got it done."
