Hernández Goes Deep Twice, Helps Puffer Fish Top Gators, 6-4
|
The timely hitting of Edgardo Hernández helped the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish down the North Ft. Myers Gators, 6-4. Hernández belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Puffer Fish. The winning pitcher was Ronald Hensball. His record is now 15-1. The left-hander went 7.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits for the Puffer Fish. Jamie Dyke picked up the save for Plattsburgh, his 1st of the year.
Hernández came through with some timely hitting for Plattsburgh. With North Ft. Myers trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Hernández hit a first pitch splitter for a 3-run home run. His 14th home run of the season made it 5-4, Plattsburgh.
"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Hernández. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
The first-place Puffer Fish, at 67-28, now lead their division by 4 games.
