Beavers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Rhinos
|
The Ballard Beavers defeated the Redwood Rhinos, 2-1, in USSL Low A action at The Zoo. Ballard pitcher Phil Krause had a standout performance. Ballard reliever José López picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. J.R. Carnathan took the loss. The 8th-place Beavers are now 32-52, the Rhinos 43-41.
Ballard used the timely hitting of Sam Ledesma to capture the win. The catcher socked a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Beavers ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Gerald Clark.
