Snowpeople Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start

Ellesmere Island rode a good effort from starter Jonathan Stewart to beat the Tulsa Otters at The Igloo. The final score was 4-1. Stewart, now 1-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Ellesmere Island is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 5th in 15 games.
Had Kuan Huie not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Huie hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Snowpeople.
Stewart expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
