Octopi Get One-Run Win at Northwest Territory
|
The Ogallala Octopi had to overcome a fine performance from Northwest Territory pitcher Anthony Payne to grab a 3-2 win at Beaver Town. Payne allowed 3 runs over 7.1 innings. Matt Dougherty, the winning pitcher, is now 5-5. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 3. The 6th-place Octopi have won 4 straight.
Miguel Zarate, the 21-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Zarate contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the eighth inning to put Ogallala up, 3-1.
Zarate told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
