Billy Goats Fall Short at Long Island, 7-6
|
Colorado designated hitter Shan Gui had a good game, even if his team did not. The Billy Goats dropped a 7-6 decision to Long Island at The Lighthouse. Gui was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The Billy Goats, at 17-22, have lost 4 straight games.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the eighth inning when the Lighthouse sent 22-year-old third baseman Michael Jones to the plate with runners on 1st and 3rd. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a sacrifice fly, to put Long Island on top, 7-6.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Jones, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
