Octopi Collect 2-1 Win Over Beavers
|
The Ogallala Octopi did just enough to secure a victory over the Ballard Beavers, 2-1, at Nebraska Aquarium. Nobody did more than pitcher Alejandro Martínes. The winner in relief was Warren Norton. He is now 3-0. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. At 23-26, the Octopi are currently 6th in the Silver Low A.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Ogallala first baseman Vladsislas Nizovkin, facing Kurt Page, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Octopi the 2-1 win.
"We were in it," said Ballard manager Gerald Clark. "We just didn't score enough runs."
