The Amarillo Warheads beat the Northwest Territory Beavers, 3-2. Amarillo pitcher and Hachioji, Japan, native Akihito Miura led the way. The winning pitcher was Miura, now 2-2. He tossed 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Jen-djieh Li recorded the save for Amarillo, his 2nd of the season.
Luis López, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with no one out in the top of the sixth. That's when he connected on a fastball from Bobby Landry for a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season put Amarillo in front, 2-1.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said López. "Those qualities define our team."
With the win, Amarillo goes to 13-19, while the Beavers fall to 19-13.
