Warheads Edge Beavers, 4-3
|
The Amarillo Warheads topped the Ballard Beavers, 4-3, in USSL Low A action at Ballpark of Henderson. The standout performance belonged to Amarillo pitcher and Siauliai, Lithuania, native Karol Pejemsky. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Gustavo Villa. Amarillo goes to 9-10.
The Beavers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Warheads going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old first baseman Javier Meléndez came to the plate. Meléndez hit a 2-run home run on a 2-0 sinker from Ballard hurler Arnout van Hulst. It was Meléndez's 6th home run of the year.
Meléndez called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
