Cajuns Topple Trash Pandas with Late Rally
|
The Crowley Cajuns faced a tough opponent in Watford City pitcher Ernest Thompson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Trash Panda Field by a final score of 6-4. Thompson went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Crowley reliever Freddy Hernández picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Tony Burgos absorbed the loss. Francisco Álvarez finished to wrap up his 13th save.
Crowley used a clutch hit from Mike Coleman to get the win. The first baseman drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cajuns ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"I had a good game," said Coleman. "Winning makes it even better."
At 37-34, the Cajuns are currently 5th in the Premier Low A.
