Caterpillars Shut Out River Rats, 2-0
|
Juan Martínez never let Columbia get something going. The Grand Forks right-hander commanded his cutter in pitching the Caterpillars to a 2-0 win. Bruce Lewis converted his 1st save in 1 tries. The Caterpillars raised their record to 38-56.
The Caterpillars got a big at-bat from first baseman Dean Slater. For the game, Slater went 1 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 15th double of the season gave Grand Forks a 1-0 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Grand Forks manager Milton Mathews said.
