Crossbeaus Stymie Maine, Take 4-1 Win
|
Ron Cox never let the Sea Dogs get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Crossbeaus to a win, 4-1. Cox, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. Lien-ying Cheung earned save number 8 this season.
Beaumont used the bat of Blair Sparks to capture the win. The second baseman jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Crossbeaus ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"We take it day by day here," said Sparks, "and today was a good one for us."
The 5th-place Crossbeaus have a record of 11-12.
