The Laredo Hawks topped the South Beach Blaze, 4-0, with youngster Don Knight playing a key role. Knight was 1-1 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Hawks in the win. Ric Nelson, the winner, goes to 8-3. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts over 5 innings. The Hawks now have a record of 49-35.
Rob Martin had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Laredo. He came through with a run-scoring triple to put Laredo in front, 2-0.
